Sachets after deimpaction

After years of constipation and different medications (now 7yo and resulting multiple daily accidents), we finally found ERIC and followed the deimpaction regime with Movicol. We’re now struggling to know what to do with how many sachets a day- she reached watery stools after a week and now back on 2 sachets a day is still having runny poos. We’re feared to stop/skip sachets in case it puts us back to square one! Any advice?!

Maybe try her on half a sachet a day

Are you just using movicol? I would reduce the sachets by half at a time. Do it gradually because it takes awhile for them to adjust. Another thing to.me mindful of is overflow.

Reduce by a small amount at a time. You can make up a whole sachet and then only give them some (3/4, 2/3 etc.) of it so could reduce by any amount you want. Stick to the lower amount for a week and see what difference it makes and then reduce again if stools still not back to soft sausages. Some children are really sensitive to the sachets so a 3rd makes a big difference others can change by whole sachets and it doesn't have that much of an impact. Every child is different. But as you say you don't want to yo-yo between constipation and watery stools so just take your time and you will find the right amount. Good luck. Xx
