Hi there, my daughter has started taking movical. How long do you take it for and how do you know when to reduce the dose? Thanks in advance

To be honest I don't think any one can answer the question how long your child will be taking movicol for. To giblve you an idea it has been nearly 2 years now for my child. Each child is different the key I think is not to rush it and make sure you feel you have got over the Constipation.
The best way to start to understand reducing the dose is watch the poo nurse as this explains it well. Also I would print of a Bristol stool chart. Basically if they are a 5-7 on the Bristol stool chart you would look to reduce the dose. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much. I’m not even sure what dose I’m suppose to give as doctor said to see what I thought and reduce if needs be.
The best way is to perhaps to start at the beginning and start with one. I would leave them on it for 2 -3 days before changing the dose. I find it takes this long to see how it affects them. So If they are a 1 to 3 on the Bristol stool chart then increase the dose. If they are a 5-7 on the bristol chart I would look to decrease the sachets. So for example if one sachet gets you a 5 or 7 type poo i would bring it down by half a sachet. Have they told you what dose they are happy for you to go up to? I hope you dont mind me asking but how old is your little one.
