Little girl won't poo

Hi all. I'm new just joined. My little girl suffers from constipation and has for 4 years. We've tried everything ..... she's also under a consultant and the school is now starting to collate a health plan. It'll be nice to hear from others who have been in the same position, as I feel on my own and although I have given so much support, love and time... and will continue to do this ... I just feel like I'm failing and letting my precious girl down xxx

Thank you

Anne

Hi ya.

You are not failing or letting your little girl down. This is a hard road to be on and a very long one. All you can do is fight there corner even when you feel you are hitting your head on a brick wall.

Is she on any form of medication?

Oh no, you are definitely not failing. It’s so hard, and I’ve felt like that many times myself until I found this forum. My son has struggled from 6 months old and is now nearly 8 and whilst things are massively improving, we still have a long way to go.

Endlessly drinking water is one of the big things and as they get older that does definitely get easier. Also a good routine is key, we used to think we were good at getting him to sit on the toilet but I realised (after reading some advice here) how often we were rushed or forgot or in the middle of hundreds of busy things that families do. I started setting my alarm earlier so that mornings weren’t so rushed and 30-45 minuted after he finished eating he was given ten minutes of uninterrupted toilet time during which he read or listened to his iPod (difficult at times when we only have one loo but we managed) and that has really helped to regulate everything.

Good luck and keep coming back to this forum if you need someone to talk to as it’s really helped me and you are definitely not alone.

Good luck.

I’m so sorry to hear that. I think as mums we always feel responsible for everything that possibly can go wrong when it comes to our kids, but rest assured we are not to blame for everything. I’m alsostruugling with my little girl. She tends to hold her poo in which makes her constipated and then she will mess a lot. She also gets very upset by it . What makes matters worse is she has just started reception and they don’t give the same level of support we got at the nursery. She tends to poop her pants and no one can help her!😡 I know the schools hands are tied but really??? What is the answer? The other issue is she hardly eats because she feels full and she is slight as it is. She is on laxido to help her go but she does not like going to the toilet for poos (no probs with wee) even if she isn’t constipated. I’ve tried everything in the book and honestly, I’m exhausted!
