My 7yo boy is still in PJ Pants

Hi. Just joined and grateful to find a support group. My son is 7 and only just starting to get frustrated with wearing PJ pants. We went to see a GP and have been prescribed Demopressin. I was hoping this would help my son to wake up abs recognise a full bladder but understand this medication is reducing the fluid being produced. My question is: should he still be wearing PJ pants ? He has never woken up for the toilet ever !! We’ve tried no pj pants and spent weeks changing sheets and got to the point where my son asked if he could have them back on for a decent nights sleep and so we are where we are. Year 3 and a residential trip coming up next term - advice please ? Thanks.

I have the same issues with my 9yo too. We've done desmopressin and are waiting for a bladder scan. He did a school residential trip and having spoken to the teachers about the problem (they will have dealt with this before, and your child won't ne the only one), bought 2 matching sleeping bags, matching pj's and onsies. Gave one set of everything to the teacher on the QT. I also lined each sleeping bag with 2 Pampers matress protector pads. No-one had any idea there was a problem.

Hope this helps a wee bit x

It mat be about the right time to try the alarm? That will help his brain establish a link. My son is still in PJ pants at 13 - we bought an alarm last year but for various reasons it's never been the right time to try it - but we will! Agree completely with the other reply, that the teachers are probably really used to this for school trips - just go and chat to them - they will have a plan! The Desmopressin may help too on the trip, but our consultant said to us it will do nothing to actually solve the problem long term - only the alarm will do that. My son boards at his school Monday to Friday and the staff are completely used to the boys having this issue and manage it well. I think just communicate with the staff well in advance of the trip.
