Do suppositories work in your case every time? Suppositories didn't work for my son.

I think enemas are the last resort.

My son will be turning 6 in August. He's been on Movicol and Sennokot for one year and a half. That helped him poo most days until I stopped the meds for 6 weeks during the school holidays. I was hoping he would be able to go without the extra help. He got constipated again and after disimpaction the meds didn't seem to work anymore and he was soiling more than ever.

After trying suppositories without success, he is now having an enema each morning (for the past couple of weeks). Works every time and he doesn't soil for the rest of the day (wakes up with stained undies though). I am still giving him one sachet of Movicol at breakfast and another at dinner to keep the poo soft. And he sits on the toilet/potty after breakfast and dinner, but without the enema usually nothing happens. His poo is big, soft (5 on Bristol) and light brown, not sticky.

I am considering buying the manual on encopresis.com which is a program to resolve soiling based on enemas. Wondering if anyone on this forum has tried it or has tried enemas? Apparently it's not enough to give an enema each day, one has to retrain the bowels somehow.
