My 3 year old constantly poos

I was after some help

Every since being born my little girl has pooed constantly.

It’s never a big poo but it’s more than a skiddy in her nappy.

We are back at the doctors Friday with her as they have just kept us on lactalouse(however it’s spelt)

But this past week she’s been on it it’s liquidy with a few hard bits but nothing solid.

We are trying to potty train her but we are binning more nickers than managing to salvage as she poos in every pair!

I don’t know now if she doesn’t even realise she’s doing it. As there’s always poo on her bum. You can clean her and 10 mins later she’s done it again but doesn’t know herself.

Has anyone got any advice for a very puzzled parent! Thanks

Hi, As it’s been happening since birth and she is now 3 that is a very long time for that to be happening. Is the GP examining her tummy for stuck lumps of poo? If I were you I would get the GP to refer you to a paediatrician for a more thorough assessment. It doesn’t sound as though the lactulose is very effective but I would be cautious of changing her medication without a more thorough assessment. Alternatively go and see a different GP or ask for a referral to the continence service. Expert advice is invaluable and without someone checking her tummy or doing an x Ray there’s no way of knowing what’s going on inside. I feel that as it’s since birth a paediatric gastroenterologist orcs paediatrician would be the right place to go to, good luck x
