Hi Karina, I am not sure where you are based. I am in South Africa and obtained my bracelet from Medic Alert South Africa.

When joining and paying membership, and when ordering a bracelet, it is wise to have it engraved. They did this for me, but you would have to check this and also if there's any extra charges for engraving.

I don't know what type of epilepsy you have but as an example my bracelet says as follows:-

"Grand mal epilepsy"

"On medication"

Phone number is given and your membership number is included.

Wishing you all the best... My bracelet has been a lifesaver and I would be lost without it!

Morning Karina,

I have suffered from Epilepsy for years.I wear a Medic -Alert bracelet.I am from Cape Town in South Africa.A Medic-Alert bracelet gives you peace of mind and always has the necessary information on it if you have a seizure especially if you are alone and no-one is aware of your problem. My bracelet has Epilepsy on Medication with my husband,s mobile number engraved on it.engraved on it.

Wishing you all the best.It is well worth it ! Regards,Mary

Thank you for this informative forum. I have also been wondering where to get a bracelet for my daughter. How do I get hold of Medic Alert? Any telephone number or website?

Hi Mpasi,

Medic Alert details are as follows:

Email: info@medicalert.co.za

Website: medicalert.co.za

Telephone no.: +27 21 425 7328

I hope the above helps and good luck. It's worth it for peace of mind!

Hi there. my bracelet just has my condition, I'm o medical aid and medication. And a contact no with a reference no. I hated it in the beginning too. I was always worried about people seeing it on my hand and feeling sorry for me immediately or treating me differently. But it has given me so much more confidence now. I'm not afraid to go out and do so much more. And it is not even noticed by others at all. Try it and you'll see. All the best to you.
