My 45 year old partner was struck by encephalitis almost 2 years ago. He now has epilepsy (frontal partial). He now has on avarage two pronged seizures per week. He is on 2x100mg Topiramate and 3x200mg Lacosamide daily but still the seizures have not disappeared. He finds is very difficult to get used to it and fears leaving the house alone. Does anybody have any advice?

Hi sorry to hear about your husband having seizures. It can take months for one to get adjusted to a new medication, especially when one is titrating up dosages as requested by one's Neurologist. Topiramate did not suit me, and I found I had far too many side effects, i.e. more seizures, irritability, depression, heartburn, dry throat, coughing and more. Please speak to his doctor if he does not improve.
