Hi

My Husband has had epilepsy for over 15 years following on from an Aneurysm. He had been seizure free for approximately 7 years, he now as had a couple of small seizures. His memory has really deteriorated i am worried he may have some other reason for memory loss. Is dementia something which is common with epilepsy suffers?

Hi, I’m sorry for the memory loss. I can only tell you my situation which is quite different. I have had epilepsy for 56 years. At one point they were very serious, in fact I had 9 tonic clinic seizures in one day. The result of this was I actually lost great chunks of my memory. If your worried about dementia then ask your GP for a test, it’s very simple and I must admit it put my mind at rest when she told me I didn’t have dementia.

I do hope things improve.
