My daughter is on Lamotrigine ( Accord) brand and from all I have investigated it seems to say that if you have found a brand you have tolerated and works you should stick with it. When I put in for her repeat prescription I always insist on Accord ( the GP has clearly written this on her notes). You could check this fact with your specialist. I think you need the peace of mind.

Yeah ive been using yhis online pharmacy thing but its not working out with the right meds for anything so im am cancelling them. Ive changed GP due to uselessness and hopefully get a few more answers to a lot of my other problems. I haven't seen a specialist for my epilepsy since 2004.

I think that sounds sensible. In the meantime, I wonder if it’s worth you contacting your neurological specialist ( or their clinical nurse) for a review. After all, it’s the specialist that prescribes the epilepsy medication and the GP agrees to support the continued use of it. It may take time to get a new, suitable GP in place and get to see them. Worth asking if any have a speciality in Epilepsy at your GP practice? Best to take control of your own health, best of luck.

Yes im seeing a GP at this new surgery next week and have a lot of things to discuss. I was having brain scans every year which dropped to 2 years then stopped altogether with no explanation from specialist or GP so many questions. Although ive been seizure free for so long im still on meds and still classed as epileptic so should still be treated as i am. There are so many health issues im dealing with alongside this too. Thank you for helpful words. Xxx

I was on the Accord ones for 15 years. Yes - when you start on a particular one, make sure you stay on the same brand of tablet. Changing brands can make a difference. And often the chemist wants to supply the cheaper one If the pharmacy refuses to get them then change your chemist. I have had that happen to me before.

Thank you Monaco1 its changed a few times although I haven't had any seizures for a long while im on meds for thyroid as well so i wouldn't know if it affected me differently as that has me all over the place. Im in the process of changing my GP surgery due to a lot of things not being followed up properly this new one has taken bloods to check liver and kidneys as they haven't been checked nor anything else to be honest follow ups on my meds etc. So i will stop using this pharmacy service once ive spoken to him again and fully registered🤗

Make sure they check you liver and kidneys regularly! I was comfortable on the Lamotrogine! I was on 300mgAM 200mgPMI knew my body and when seizures were going to come! But after a long time, they checked my kidneys and they had to take me off the medication because my kidneys were going to burst! And a side effect of the medication! I knew nothing about it! Don't want to start scaring you! Just make sure they regularly check your body for side effects! Keep on fighting! Just be aware - and fight for your rights! Well done!
