I’ve been diagnosed with a reduced threshold for focal onset seizures. For the two seizures I’ve had, I’ve been walking/running, had a faint feeling but been totally aware, ignored it, carried on then had a full seizure about 2 minutes later. I’ve been told the faint feeling is my ‘aura’. Does anyone else get this? Thanks

Focal Onset Seizures
Hia Stevie. I have similar. The auras are a type of seizure definitely, Partial Onset Seizure is proper name I think. Basically the partial refers to it only affecting a part of the brain. It can stay partial or become more widespread then produce a bigger seizure.
I go blank after the aura and don’t lose consciousness, can actually respond to questions etc and when I come out of it I can’t remember preceding 10 minutes at all. Recently I have also been falling to the ground momentarily after them but get up after less than a minute, panicky but otherwise pretty normal.
I’m taking Lamotrigine but obviously it’s not stopping them and intend to ask my neurologist to try another drug.
What are your seizures like after the aura?
Thanks for the reply. Immediately after the aura, I still felt faint but ok. Then I would have a full seizure/collapse and come round after about 5 minutes. I thought at first that it was a vasovagal syncope as there was the faint feeling first, but the EEG results showed the reduced threshold.
