Our virtual groups are open to anyone in the UK who is over 18. You might be living with epilepsy yourself, or you might be a parent or carer of someone living with epilepsy.
To attend a meeting via Zoom, ensure Zoom application is installed on your device.
hi EpilepsyAction1 woud i be welcomed as a mostly reader/lurker of this group? i never know what to say but im having my epileptic tonic clonic seizures almost every day currently.
one other thing i need to mention, i am classic autistic and learning disabled, and communicate via AAC/Proloquo2go, i use my laptop for the zoom camera and my ipad for the AAC-woud people be ok with this? there is a little delay in me typing and people hearing it as i am a fast typer usually but im getting used to a new laptop which has a full keybboard.
You would be welcome to try a virtual group, you can just listen in at first if you want to build confidence. I would recommend that after making a booking on a general group epilepsy.org.uk/virtual-groups it would be useful for you to email lso@epilepsy.org.uk to let us know your name and support requirements. We can then let the facilitator of the group you chose to attend know in advance to provide additional time and support to enable you to contribute.
You might find it beneficial to attend a local group if there is one near to you that is meeting virtually. Local groups provide ongoing regular support with the same people attending so they build up friendships and peer support. You can find out if there is a local group here epilepsy.org.uk/near-me. Again it would be good for you to email lso@epilepsy.org.uk to let us know of your requirements so that we can let the group volunteer and manager know to provide additional support.
