Side effects help please

Hi there,

My husband has been diagnosed with focal or absence seizures and has been experiencing an increasingly severe pain down the left side of his face. It began just at night but can now happen at any time. It can hang about all day or go within minutes. He is unsure if it a side effect of Levetiracetam? Has anyone else experienced this at all?

Thank you in advance

Hi Chrank 12

Thank you for your post. I hope your husband's symptoms have improved. If not it would be best to talk to his neurologist or epilepsy nurse. You may also wish to talk to his GP in case it's unrelated to his epilepsy or epilepsy medicine.

I have found as a side-effect levetracitam can cause paraesthesia. This is an abnormal sensation, typically tingling or pricking (‘pins and needles).

If we can be of any more help, please feel free to contact us again, either by email or the Epilepsy Helpline freephone 0808 800 5050. We are open Monday to Friday 8.30am until 5.30pm.

Regards

Diane
