I was wondering if anyone had any alternatives to Lamictal, because I’m having some side effects that are not helpful at all and are actually making things much worse. Thanks

In the process of changing myself from Lamictal, although Vampit my proposed alternative does not work, three seizures in two months and various near episodes. I would be interested what your side effects were with Lamictal? I was in partnership with Epilim [Parkinson disease type effects], Fycompa [suicidal and REM sleep patterns] and then Lamictal ["electrical shock episodes" and no sleep] by itself then in the process with Vampit which does not stop my seizures, I have JME epilepsy [for 48 years]. Running out of alternatives! Good Luck!

I have real trouble with speech sometimes (for example I cannot get my words out in the right order) but that might not be Lamictal lol, I cannot sleep (which is counter-productive really as my epilepsy’s main trigger is sleep deprivation), on and off hand tremors (which again might not be the Lamictal but who knows) and I get this real buzzy, blurry feeling in my head (if that makes any sense). Thank you! I hope you find a medication that works!

I take Lamictal (and other AEDs) and have similiar problems which I put down to brain injury; I have communication problems when I'm tired (can't speak or understand speech), have hand tremors (most of the time), and get confused with too much happening. However the seizure control is good so I put up with these effects.

Having read your comments maybe it's the Lamictal. Who knows!

My daughter only had problems with Lamictal when I was combined with Trileptal.
