Suspected absence seizures
Good morning Richard,
When someone says that I 'may' have had is rightly a negative statement.
The only way that you will find out what you are suffering from would will be to make an appointment with your gp and tell them of your thoughts. They in turn will refer you to a neurologist to clarify if these are absence seizures or not.
Hello 53Richard
Learning that you may have been having seizures for some time may have come as a shock to you.
When someone is diagnosed with epilepsy their care is usually given by a neurologist. The neurologist uses information from medical tests and information about what has been happening to them to try to find a cause for the events. This helps them to explore whether any treatment is needed. More about diagnosing epilepsy can be found on our website: epilepsy.org.uk/info/diagnosis
It can be scary to be told that you may have epilepsy. Epilepsy is individual to each person who has it, and each person finds ways to adapt in their own time. The most common way of treating epilepsy is with epilepsy medicines, and with the right treatment though seven out of 10 people can be seizure free. More about treatment can be found on our website: epilepsy.org.uk/info/treatment
