someone has to know!

my wife ( 69 yes old) is having episodes for four years, we have seen numerous neurologists including Mayo . Episodes include premonitions, increased heart pounding, hot feeling, flushed face, hands shaking, then exhaustion. They last less than a minute, lately two or three times a day, almost everyday. She is being treated with epilepsy drugs and suffering from the side effects but nothing works, now they are coming more often.

Is anyone ever had this same issues. What is it ? Please help

Hello,

I sympathise hugely with your wife’s situation. We are of a similar age although I’ve been suffering since my early 30s after an operation to remove a blood clot. Thus, thankfully I’m still here but side effects of various drugs can be so depressing, not to mention scary.

I’ve experienced several of symptoms you mention. Also, the increased occasions of daily seizures both motor and focal. It’s important to relax ( not easy!) at these moments and if you are near or someone there, that can help relive anxiety. That is, it does for me. We’re all different.

I’m assuming your wife is seeing a neurologist regularly, at least 3 monthly atm to check symptom effects etc. Sad to say it can take quite some time for the exact combination of drugs to be reached for each individual’s brain, we’re all understandably so different even if suffering similar symptoms. The balance is so very delicate to reach.

What have the neurologists you’ve seen so far suggested? I live in the UK btw so some procedures are different, people not when they need help! I do hope you discover more success soon for your wife.

ps. Relieve, not relive…..I mentioned earlier! Sorry.

My guess would be panic attack/disorder. When i was in my 20s i used to get these exact symptoms. A wave feeling of something is badly wrong or about to happen. A feeling of my heart stopping. A flushed face feeling, heart skipping beats, heart pounding. Panic sets in. Shakes. Feeling cold. Feeling hot. Cold sweats at times. Sometimes not. Cant stop shaking... Then after 5-10 minutes it clears off.... Then im exhausted! Just ran a marathon!... Sleep.....
