Scary day yesterday

Hi, Its very rare I post on here but after yesterday I thought I would as I feel I've no one to really talk to at the min. People will probably not have much sympathy for me but while at work yesterday I felt fine all day then the next thing I remember is having a really bad headache and my left arm and leg were really aching which I'm assuming was from a seizure as I have a total blank of about 10 mins. I have been suffering for about 12 years now with them. This is where people will have no sympathy though - I have an issue with alcohol! Quite a big one that has cost me my wife in the last 6 weeks! And I can't blame her she told me over and over again what I needed to do and I just didn't listen to her when she was so amazing to me. I am now going to my first meeting about my drinking on Monday and really don't know what to expect from that as it is a group thing. I think there is still hope with my wife if I can prove to her I can change it will just be twice as hard without her. Any comments from anyone who has ever been in a similar situation or has some advise would be much appreciated but as I said I expect no sympathy what so ever as this is all of my own doing. Thank you in advance if you do take time to reply.

Hi, sorry to hear your story at least you now acknowledge it and are prepared to do seek support, which takes a lot of courage so give yourself some credit.

I don’t deny that I won’t have a glass of wine when out, when we all know that with our medication(s) we shouldn’t be. One just has to be more cautious & drink lots of water.

I hope it all goes well & you get the right support. And with time your wife will return. Are you into general fitness or yoga 🧘‍♀️- a new you 😀. Take care and keep us informed. When’s your 1st session? X. SJ

Hi SJ thanks for replying. I’ve set my stall out of a plan I want to do and have my first session tomorrow at 10 am so a bit nervous for that as don’t really know what to expect! After that my next port of call is the dr and then to join the gym which in turn will keep me away from the pub certainly in the week although I have been warned not to just completely stop the alcohol straight away as this could have a negative effect!!! Big day today to as it’s my daughters dance show so at least a day with the wife 😊 let’s hope it’s a good day. Anyway enjoy your day and apologies for the delayed reply. Take care.
