I take Carbamazepine. Usually I get the pink oblong pills. Sometimes I end up with the white tablets. I've read on websites that they are all the same, same ingredients, same everything. When I take the pink ones, I have no problems. Just recently, I had the white tablets. In one day, I had 3 seizures. That's not normal - because I can go weeks without having any seizures at all. How can these pills be "the same" when they are different colors, it has to have something different in it. Has anyone else had he same problem with the carbamazepine white tablets?

For epilepsy medication you need to stay on the same brand of drug otherwise in most cases it doesn't control the seizures as well. Get your GP to state the brand on your repeat prescription for the pharmacist to dispense the same one everytime. I've had this occur with me where breakthrough seizures came on so I always check the pharmacist has sent the same brand. Hope this helps. x
I’ve had this too. I agree with the above advice. Stick to a named brand of carbamazepine. I take Tegretol. Best wishes x
Same here, I always stick to the same brand for my TEGRETOL. Mine too, are a peach colour. Never had white ones. I take it combined with Keppra, seen as my epilepsy returned after being seizure free for 19 years prior!
Snap I also ensure that I have Keppra & the branded Zonisamide plus my Clobazam, it’s amazing /scary of the differences between the generic & branded, read up!! Cost! 😄. SJ
Again, I’m saying the same as the others, I had that exact experience with tegretol with the stronger doses and as soon as the pharmacist tried to give me anything other than the brand name I experienced serious consequences. The doctor made it clear and all has been well for many years with the tegretol now, including several others drugs.......ironically one has to be the exact brand, the others ok to have cheaper alternative. I hope if you’ve not got it sorted yet you will do soon. X
