Hi Beth has had a lot of full body jerks/twitching during the day this last week. At one point she appeared unresponsive. I was on holiday with my partner and she was staying with family. She says she was missing me and I’m wondering if it was stress related, has anyone else had this?

Twitching
Hi sorry to hear the Beth was not well. My epilepsy started off with jerks and twitching the term the doctors uses was myoclonic jerks and my triggers were stress and tiredness not sure if this helps but you're welcome to message me.

Thank u, saw epilepsy nurse today who said similar. It’s a bit scary as Beth mainly had night time seizures so we only used to see the after effects.
It can be quite scary I still have the jerks occasionally but mainly when I'm really tired and luckily my seizures are controlled by my medication. I think once she's on the right medication for her she will get better.
Hopefully they will sort things out for you. X
‘Might’ have been myoclonic epilepsy, but that has to be reviewed by her neurologist.
Stress, fear and anxiety are definitely things that could exacerbate if not be causing her epilepsy. Again I can only suggest that these things all need to be reported to her neurologist.
Here’s wishing you all well.
Please keep in touch.
Richard
Stress and fear can trigger seizures for sure. Is Beth going through puberty now? That is also when I started my seizures and doctors felt at the time with all the changes going on in a girls body could have also have been part of the cause of seizures. This is also common in some women after giving child birth as it is as you know the most stress and pain that your body goes through especially a long labor .
Also have the neurologist check the MRI to see if the base of the brain is properly filtering the flow of serotonin which is very high when one is very upset or overly excited. They discovered that I do not have this filtering system and that was the reason for the grand mal seizures. These happened at night when your subconscious is processing various info pertaining to the pervious day or worries about something that may be happening.
Hope you find this helpful. Blessings to you all. Elsie
Do you mean a functional MRI or something? I forgot what it’s called. I haven’t heard a regular MRI being able to check serotonin but I heard another kind that can check other stuff. I’ve never had that done and the one person I know who did went to another country and had to pay for it.
I’ve had a regular MRI done but no problems seen in the brain exactly. Other issues around my head but not seen as a concern to them I guess.
This is just what I’m dealing with!!! I don’t know many with these kind of seizures and I’m not diagnosed yet but I have seen an epilepsy specialist and waiting on an ambulatory video EEG in December for a few days. I usually have this happen around sleep and when tired or stressed as well so I totally relate to that.
This should do the trick. As I spent a night in the hospital and the readings did pick up when seizures were about to take place and duration and intensity levels as well.
