Hello

You can get a seizure diary from the Epilepsy Society online and it's free. There are 2 pages at the front of the diary where you can log your seizures for 4 months and it forms a graph.

shop.epilepsysociety.org.uk...

I hope this helps.

Hi Kantey

Thank you for your reply. I have a seizure diary from Epilepsy Society but I didnt realise it formed a graph after 4 months so thanks for that :)

Hi

There is of course more sophisticated methods of logging seizures, but I use the box filling charts on pages 4 and 5 of the diary, as well as the rest of it. I find it's helpful because it can show your doctor, and yourself, any patterns in your seizures over each month.

Hi Kantey,

Have gone into your link but looks as if the diary is 0.75 pounds not free? Please explain.

If you look underneath the description it reads: *Part of the first five free offer*.

Just place the order and there will be no charge, I've done it a few times. There is an option to make a donation which can be very small, if you wish to, and they send a nice thank you note.

Thank you Kantey.

I did as you requested, however, can only be sent to addresses in the U.K.

Do you know of a link where I can download one maybe?

I am based in South Africa.

Hello,

I was the innovator of recording ones epilepsy.

Long ago I created a Microsoft Except spreadsheet and each day I recorded all my epilepsy for each day of each month.

To be honest when I did this I found that this was so, so depressing and was Not good for me psychologically.

As I said that was long ago.

Today I record my epilepsy on my Smartphone and the London Hospital that I attenf not only appreciate this but they asked my permission to show my video recordings to fellow neurologists, psychologist and students.

As it is for the the appliance of science, I have my immediate consent to do this.

You see if like me sometimes you get an aura you can set Smartphone up to record your epilepsy you simply press the Record button and it Videos me having epilepsy attacks along with the audio of the shouting and screaming that I do.

Obviously if you not get an aura and you live with a parent, loved one, friend or carer they can do this for you.

You see epilepsy diaries are old hat now. What do they tell your Neurolgy? Well tell him on day one you had 3 attacks and then you went 4 days epilepsy free

Whereas the video if played to him at your appointment tells him one of three things.

A. Your epilepsy remains the same

B. Your epilepsy is better

Or

C. Sadly your epilepsy is Worse

Now he knows how to deal with with epilepsy as he has never done before

If you are on Twitter or Facebook you simple use my Link below and you read and Follow my blog

I wish you well

Hi there,

I have never graphed my epilepsy, but I am a statistician (medical statistician in fact) and I write a lot of code for plotting graphs of all sorts of information. If you would like, I could help you to make a nice looking graph that is easy to understand and that you could keep adding more data to to keep it up to date. The software I use is free (It is called R).

If you would like me to help you with this, maybe you could send me some more information like the kind of data (number of seizures per day, or types or lengths of seizures). Also if you have some idea what kind of a graph you want (a line which could contain a moving average, or a bar chart showing peaks and troughs). If you don't know, I could have a go at a few different kinds for example. It would be really useful if you could actually send me an example of the kind of data you have that would also be really useful, but if you like you can make up the numbers. I could write the code and send it back to you and then you could run it with the real numbers and keep adding to it.

All the best,

Amy
