Dear Lizziestone, thank you for your message. There is nothing to prevent you from working as a plumber, but you would need to take precautions to ensure that you are safe at work, and it may be more difficult to get insurance. We have an online leaflet about safety in the work place that may be of help: epilepsyresearch.org.uk/wp-.... This is in the process of being updated, but the content is pretty much the same. Best wishes, Delphine

Dear Lizziestone, as Delphine has stated, there is nothing to prevent you from working as a plumber. Precautions are needed to ensure you are safe at work. Please make sure this is the case as you are going up in the ceilings with geysers, using ladders and more. Everyone is different and epilepsy can affect trend of thought, disorientation and more. All the best.

I would like to add to be very careful with copper pipe fitting while using lead or without lead assembly junctions. The gas produced while assembling copper specially using oxy-acyletylene gas equipment can be very damaging for serious epilepsy patients.A personal experience that produced my first epileptic crisis in April 2013 following my mobility motor deficit recovery in April 2012.

I suffer from uncontrolled epilepsy and wrote a poem that might resonate and help a few others, not feel alone. As I do at times. Have hope.

I have never written more truthful words. Sick to the back teeth of this. #epilepsy #awareness...
