Hi there, I am a music student studying in Bath writing my dissertation on musicogenic epilepsy.

I was wondering if any one would be able to speak to me about the topic as I would love to find out about some first hand experiences and information, whether you suffer from it or are knowledgeable in the subject.

Thanks!

I personally don't suffer from this type of epilepsy & haven't actually heard of therefore I just typed it into google (which I am sure you've already done) and there are people on the epilepsy.com website who suffer from it who you maybe able to contact. Good luck x

Hi allymck, I can't help you with this one directly, but you have got my interest. Could you tell me more about musicogenic epilepsy? It could be possible that my son suffers with this and I had never correlated events. Maybe I might be able to help in a different way :)

Hi yeah, Its basically epilepsy which is triggered by sounds. It could be anything from a specific sound, singer, instrument, pitch, frequency, or any type of music. What would you like to know and I'll do my best to help you!

I have never heard of this type of epilepsy, but suffer from the temporal lobe variety. I am, however, keen on music, and am a decent singer that can sing solo performances of folk or classical items. I also did a short OU course in writing about muisic. If I can help, contact me.

Hi, I am really interested in finding out as much as I can - Would you mind if I sent you at some point a questionnaire/ interviewed you about your epilepsy? maybe you could email me? - alice-mckenna@hotmail.com

Anything you can help e with would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi there, never heard of this type of epilepsy, but also did a Google search and found out more information regarding sounds etc. This to me would depend on one's emotions at the time, but I might be wrong. It sounds quite interesting and even though I've had epilepsy for 40 years, mine is more to do with heat, hormones and stress. Please let us know more information. Thank you. Les
