Yes it is normal to bleed in the first cpl months of taking Provera. I have been on Provera a number of times for about 6 month at a time.

I was exactly like you i had bleeding and them spotting for about 8 weeks and then nothing for the rest of the course.

I am just coming to the end of 6 months on provera now and i haven't had any bleeding so not looking forward to getting period back again :(

Sorry for the late reply

I am always anemic to some degree because i have really heavy periods anyway with the endo and can't tolerate iron tablets either!

I would go back to your doctor to get your iron level checked anyway. Provera can sometimes make you a little dizzy too so it's worth getting a blood check to see if it is your iron level. If the bleeding is still heavy daily the doctor may decide it's best to stop the provera.

I don't know what dose you're on but i have always had to take 50mg a day instead of 10mg 3 times a day because the dose wasn't high enough to stop the bleeding at 30mg a day.

I hope you get sorted and in the meantime make sure you up your iron rich food and take iron supplement if you can just to be sure and keep healthy xx

thanks for getting back i'm on 10mg 3 times a day for 3 months. Before I started Provera, my iron level was 9 and was threatened with a blood transfusion. they decided to see if the tablets would stabilise it but after talking to gp today he is also concerned as my bruising is back and the dizzy spells are everytime I stand up, also the bleeding is still continuing and I now have clots to (happily they are smaller than usual). He has suggested that I continue until I see consultant but that he will write to consultant about it and see what consultant suggests.

I have been bleeding on proverb tabs since Oct when changed from noresthorone due to a blood clot in my leg The Gyno has increased my proverb tabs to 2 in the morning 2 in the afternoon and 2 in the evening , still bleeding with clots, I am 54 and have adenomyosis, and uterine bleeding, suggested mirena coil and also a procedure to see what’s going on
