How To Get.Stage Diagnosis

I have been diagnosed with endometriosis and Adenomyosis after years and years of painful periods and feeling very unwell. I have had an internal ultrasound and a gynae appointment but have no idea what stage it's at? How do you find out? I've tried to ask the question but get nowhere.

Ultrasound only shows endometriomas (endo cysts) and deep infiltrating endo (only seen by advanced experts). Endometriomas are usually a sign of deep rectovaginal disease so it will be stage 3 or 4.

I’d suggest you apply for a copy of the report by making what is called a subject access request.

I had 2 ultrasounds and neither picked up stage 4 endometriosis. An MRI with dye was able to see everything but I went private so paid.

Yes basic ultrasound won’t show deep endo but in expert hands it’s often better than MRI for rectovaginal endo. MRI mapping can then provide a wider picture.

If you live anywhere near London... I recommend contacting King Edward VII hospital to get an endo mapping scan. My gynaecologist sent me there and then diagnosed me stage 4. The imagjng equipment they have is outstanding. After a year of private IVF and multiple scans... in multiple clinics (including harley st) the imaging I had done there was vastly superior. I could have saved a lot of time and money had I gone there before starting ivf. Good luck.
