I have endo, pcos, adenmyosis and I’ve been suffering from pain and heavy bleeding . It’s starting to have a real impact on my quality of life and my symptoms seem to be getting worse . Tried lots of meds and hormones with limited success . When I have seen gynae , they seem reluctant to look at surgical options .
My endo was diagnosed through an mri to look at an ovarian cyst . I’ve never had a laparoscopy .
Has anyone else come across reluctance to access surgery . I feel like I’m running out of options with medication.
Thanks

I suffered with terrible symptoms for around 20 years. I was lucky that one day a consultant said to me after hearing my story ‘that it was no way to live’. You should not be living like this. Make an appt with your doctor, tell them all the gory details, don’t ever feel like you are over exaggerating, tell them your life is being destroyed by what you have to suffer, demand to be referred to a specialist. What you are experiencing is horrendous but with the right treatment you can get your life back.
Thanks for ur reply . Sorry to hear u had such a tough time to get treatment . I’ve asked to be referred to the bsge centre to see a specialist . It does just feel that Gp and general gynae have an attitude to avoid surgery and just get in with it . I explained I understand there are risks to surgery but there is also a risk to having ur life severely impacted too .
Thanks fir taking the time to reply . Feeling like I’m hitting a brick wall
Hi, sorry to hear that you are getting treated like this I’ve been there and not nice. My advice to you would be to demand a referral to your nearest bsge centre as they are specialists in gynaecology, your doctor cannot refuse this request. The bsge centre where I go to is excellent and so understanding it’s unbelievable. Hope you get somewhere soon. Xx
Thanks for taking the time to reply . I requested to be referred to the bsge as my local gynaecology department , really aren’t being helpful .
I left the hospital yesterday feeling stupid and unheard . I went in as I’ve had very heavy bleeding for 8 weeks . They said an op would only address pain. I’m in pain too but they I need to think about what my main issue is , the bleeding or the pain . They r both a massive issue and related .
I’m hoping my experience with the bsge with be more positive .
Thanks for the reply , helps speaking to other women xx
That is no way to speak to a woman with or without endometriosis, they really do take the biscuit at times! I suffered for 13 years before a diagnosis at 24 because nobody would believe me. I had general gynaecologists up until 2017 and they have made a mess of my insides. And still they were dismissive of my symptoms. But honestly the bsge centres are a whole other world. I was like where have you been all my life lol. They are so understanding and patient and they deal with excision rather than ablation which is better all round for endometriosis. They will hopefully give you some answers to both your pain and the bleeding. Either or is not really an option they need to address both issues. I wouldn’t be surprised if you aren’t anaemic due to the amount of blood you are losing. It maddens me that this day and age with all of the endometriosis awareness there is and women are still being fobbed off. It’s sickening and putting fertility on the line for a lot of women who are not diagnosed for years! Sorry for the rant and you are welcome for the reply. Definitely is nice to know we’re not alone on this journey xx
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply . I’m sorry u have been messed about so much and suffered for so long and has such bad care. Good to hear the bsge are much better.
It is maddening to see so many women on here not being heard or treated effectively and suffering 😞
