They found polycystic ovaries - maybe I should just go on the pill?

I had a pelvic ultrasound earlier this month and when I spoke to the gynaecologist afterwards he was awful. The consultation lasted 4 minutes, he said I had polycystic ovary syndrome, but as I don't have any other features of PCOS it turns out I actually just have polycystic ovaries, which shouldn't cause me any of the pain I experience (the reason I went to the gynaecologist in the first place). Nevertheless, he said that the pain I experience is due to polycystic ovaries and I can have the marina coil or the pill. I said I'd need to think as I didn't really want either, so he told me it was my choice if I wanted treatment or not but that it's the only treatment option.

I get so tired of having to fight for stuff - like to actually be told after days or research and worry that I don't have PCOS, I just have PCO which isn't the same thing at all. I was also told by someone else that endometriosis is very rare in people of my age (24), which I don't think is true either.

Pretty much everyone seems to think I should just have the coil (or pill) and be done with it, and I'm starting to think maybe I should just suck it up and pick one of them. A friend is keen that I ask for a second opinion which would probably be from the hospital, which does have an endometriosis centre, but I'm worried that I'm still just going to be told to go on the pill/ have the coil and yet again no one will take me seriously. All the while I'm in crippling pain several times a month - and I don't know what to do. No one seems to listen to my legitimate concerns about the pill or coil, they think it's a panacea of all things gynea-related.

If anyone has an opinion or thoughts to share I'd really appreciate hearing them.
