Hi hun ive had prostap injections .. for over 10 yrs it worked great for a long time for Bowel Endometriosis . .but i now have Adenomyosis Chronic fatigue fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis and heard a few women say the same could prostap have any thing to do with being on it for many years ,,but not everyone is the same ,, and i dont no if it has but some women are starting to question prostap injection

Hi sorry to hear you have stage 3 endometriosis I was put on prostap injections last year for 6 months before my lap operation and it was a god send i was in so much pain and weak before i had it the 1st month was rough but after that it is worth it my pain went from a 10 down to a 2 I could function again. Also going to the toilet was alot easier the only thing I had was some headaches and hot flushes but that's nothing compared to how I was. I did have 3 months shot of prostap in april this year as well which help me alot. I know everyone is different with these drugs but it's worth a try if your in constant pain good luck x

If you’re only 23 ask yourself why they haven’t offered you any other solution or treatment plan to your endo other than Prostap. Or maybe they have and they weren’t suitable? Have you had any surgeries? I would read and research very very carefully all the side effects, possible long term adversity and weigh that up against your pain. There are no easy answers with endo. You’re going to need a long term plan. Don’t be fobbed off with hormonal injections when there are alternatives with the correct surgery and surgeon. I was offered Prostap a few years ago when I was becoming desperate. I still refused. The answer below is correct, some ladies only now beginning to question what the medical profession have offered and are still offering them. These are serious hormonal treatments and so your consideration of accepting them should be equally as serious.

Hi. I had 6 months of Prostap in my twenties, now in my forties. It worked really well and gave me relief with few side effects from what I can remember, but it is not a long term solution. Your problems will return very quickly once you stop it, so by all means accept the short term relief, as long as your team are preparing you a longer term plan in the meantime. Do not be fobbed off! If I’ve learnt anything over the last 35 years of having this disease, you need to research and advocate for yourself and get pushy. Good luck hun.

As everyone said, it’s something you have to research and weigh up the risks against the pain you’re experiencing. It’s not a long term solution, especially at your age (having said that, my BSGE consultant approved my long term use of Zoladex, but only after several surgeries, multiple chocolate cysts, IVF treatment, and considering my age: 40+). I have to have regular dexa scans and take Tibolone, but ultimately it was my decision (my request, actually) to have no more periods. The only other option for me is the irreversible hysterectomy, which I might still do when I’m ready. Zoladex has worked for me, so far (7 years).

What are your other options? Surgery (excision), the combined pill and the coil are certainly other treatments to consider. If you look on the Endo UK website, they have an article about all these options and their pros/cons.

If you still decide on Prostap, make sure it’s an informed decision.

Really interested to hear about your long term use of Zoladex and Tibilone. I’ve just started it (46 yrs) after taking Danazol for a really long time which has left me osteopaenic but I have no choice but to try this combo now. The pain just got unbearable and they don’t want to do a hysterectomy as too risky in my case. How have you found the Zoladex and Tibilone, many problems?

Thankyou all for you messages really helpful, I’ve been on every pill there is and every coil I currently have the Mirena in which is really affecting my BPD and that’s what worrying me is that it’s going to affect my mental health, deffinatly going to do a lot more research before I’m back with my specialist so I know my best options for now and future🥺

Aww you are so young to be going through this, hope you get sorted quickly and safely. I will pray for your quick recovery. I’ve had Prostap Injection today for Fibroids & Endometrium to shrink them before laparoscopy Hysterectomy.

All this process is very new & frightened to me as only discovered in September 2020.

I am waiting to see which way all this goes and side effects I get.

But I must say ! Its so lovely to read everyone voice to share their thoughts and feelings and experiences. It feels one isn’t alone and also very helpful tips and advice. Thanks to all you beautiful ladies. X
