are laxatives safe if already underweight?

Hi lovely people! Maybe this is a silly question, but Im already underweight and the gastro consultant has just prescribed 2xsachets of laxative a day whilst I wait for ultrasound and referal to gyno. Im pretty regular with opening my bowels, at least once a day- though it has been slightly less since having attempted endoscopy (didnt get very far as so much resistance, and it was such agony I was howling! They suspect that my womb may be 'stuck' to my colon) Im concered that taking so much laxatives might effect the way my body absorbs nutrients and could cause me to lose weight.... has anyone had similar experiences with this? or any suggestions for natural and not completely gross natural ways to make you 'go'? thanks in advance! xx

I’m really confused as to why you would be given laxatives while you are already going regularly, did the doctor explain? Xxx
