I had my left tube only removed back in the summer but not the ovary. I had a hydrosalpinx and another hospital blocked it off prior to ivf using the Essure procedure about 8 months prior which began to cause hideous pain as the fluid backed up. I had Stage 4 and had done other 'work' done too and have no Ill effects from the salpingectony, except of course no tube- but it was ruined anyway! Lucky for me I was able to keep the i arty on that side. Is it something you are contemplating?

Did they definitely take the ovary as well? They must have done by the sounds of it. Perhaps it was all too damaged to be of use any more. I know my tube was so there was no point in keeping it.

Hi Sammie. Yes a Salpingo oopherectomy is the removal of both an ovary and fallopian tube. Had this done many years ago back in '99. Was given 4 months of Zoladex after too. Was pain free and no problem for a long time. Have got scarring and adhesions now but I couldn't say if it's just from the op I had or further complications that's causing my current issues. I recall at the time being told needed a while off work. Think it depends on how surgery was done? Mine's was open surgery. Can't see them only taking part of either thing so would think it means one side. Hope that helps in some way and your recovery goes well.

I do know of someone who had to have some ovarian tissue removed but they did try to preserve as much of the ovary as possible so I would say it's a definite possibility that they have left some ovarian tissue on that side with some follicles intact. If they have and fertility is important then that could become important at a later date so would say that's a good thing. Guess you'll just have to wait for a debrief at your post op! Good luck!

Thanks. I've got to go back in 2/4 weeks so I can get more info. I so hard to remember what they say when your so out of it from GA. It's strange not know what has been done to my body x
