does any1 get really bad pains in there overies when they ovulate. also im geting a burning pain in left side of stomach. need help
yep - you don't even have to have endo to feel the pop when an egg is released, it can be a quick sharp pop, or it can be a dagger like pain that lasts several hours and aches for a day or two after. Ovulation from a surge in hormones can trigger spotting or a slight bleed from endo or uterus too.
And it does catch you by surprise.
If there is an ovarian cyst wrapped round the ovary that can make pains even more of a problem when you ovulate.
A lot of women haven't a clue when they ovulate and don't feel a thing, there are also a lot of women who know the precise moment they ovulate - usually one side or the other but some months ovulation can happen from both ovaries.
If you only feel the left side particularly badly this would tend to indicate something is going on on that side of you and you should go chat to your GP who may decide to send you for an ultrasound to see if there is an ovarian cyst issue on the left, or to check the ovary is in the right place and not stuck with adhesions at a funny angle.
There are BC methods that can prevent ovulation and mid-cycle pain and bleeding.
Not all of them prevent ovulation in everywoman, but the POP or progesterone only sort can prevent ovulation in some ladies and might be worth trying.
Other than that -just carry pain killers with you all times and as soon as you feel the ovulation take some pain relief, or if you have a very accurate cycle, then you could take pain meds the day before ovulation keep it topped up and hope the meds take the edge off the pain.
I have the same thing horrendous pain when I ovulate from the left! I had a lap done and my ovary was stuck to my pelvic wall.... Also have endo which was not treated and although the ovary was mobilized I still get pain! Xx
Good luck
i do have endo having my second lap done soon. i was on clomid 4 6 months but didnt wrk. but it made my pain in right ovary worse. i didnt have clomid this month and the pain was even worse so scared its damenged my ovary.
im trying 4 a baby so i need to ovulate lol x
I have been having ovulation pain since I was 15 when the pain lasted 48 hours this stayed like this until I had my son almost 11 years ago about a year after having him I was told via a laparoscopy I had mild endo since that diagnosis my ovulation pain can last at its shortest 5 days up until 12 days at its longest. I was considering a hysterectomy ( I was on the waiting list) but at 42 I have re considered as I don't really want to loose both my ovaries even though there what's causing me all this pain. I am going to try the mirena coil once again even though this doesn't stop ovulation I'm hoping to get some relief and I still need contraception I can't use the pill. So no you are not alone in your pain
