Yes endo is not curable. you can have surgery to remove existing endo, lots of surgeries for that, and you can take steps to try and prevent new endo growing, but they are all you can do,and there is no guarantee that it will not return and carry on causing problems in later life - even after the menopause or after a hysterectomy endo can still be active and spread and cause a lot of problems.

So too can the Tarlov cyst cause problems in all the areas you mention.

Is your mum passed the menopause or still menstruating? It is less likely to be endo but not impossible, and more likely to be scar tissue or adhesions from former endo surgery and damage sites that cause pains after menopause.

Is your mum having the spinal cyst drained or having anything done to take the pressure off the nerves and see if that brings her relief from her symptoms? If she had that done already and the trouble persisted then certainly it could be worth her seeing a gynaecologist to check on her current endo situation too.

It's hard to say really which is more likely to be the problem, they both could be independently of one another or in combination.

Sorry can't be more helpful. Tarlov cysts are not something I know very much about other than they do cause grief in the pelvic region , all organs down below can be affected to some extent because they all send nerve signals to the spine where the cyst will be interfering.

Yes she is past the menopause.

And unfortunately there are no successful stories as yet with tarlov cyst as it is attached at the spine and it has it's own independent blood supply in which it grows nerve fibres! (How cruel) she is in constant pain varying from a 5-10 and is bed bound a lot of the time at 62 it just makes me feel very sad seeing her like this as she had my brother at 19 who is serverly disabled whom she took care of at home until lit was no longer possible due to pain! I and she had hoped that one day she may get some time for herself to enjoy life ! X

Thanks for your response. X
