Once sick pay runs out you get Statutory sick pay for so long.then there is a benefit called employment and support allowance if you are off work sick for longer than 28 weeks I think that's for when statutory sick pay runs out. I don't know details though

Hi I was in a similar position. Had ovaries removed June and was going to go back to work last wk (had some complications after surgery and menopause has been awful which is why I was off, plus still had pain) and then I saw another cons 3 wks ago for 2nd opinion and went in for further surgery last Tues. So I still not back at work. My circumstance maybe slightly different as I get 6 months full pay, however that runs out this month. I pay extra for income protection for my salary every month and my HR team rang me last wk to ask if and when was due to return as would have to put in a claim to get any sort of salary payments. I am in officially back at work, as I now working from home but I was panicking like mad for past 2 months about money and not getting same pay, it's so stressful as like you said you're I pain every day and then you have to on top of all that comes with pain worry about money. I am not too sure what your work pays you, but if it's full pay for 6 months I know some firms do a further 6 at 1:2 pay? If you ring your local citizen advice or job centre they should be able to tell you what you maybe entitled to. Like the other lady said, I think people can claim after being off for a period of 28 wks or more. Also go online DWP or search stat sick pay and see whether that sheds any light on the min number of wks. I hope you are able to find out the info and sort it, there is no way I would be back at work until prob the new year if money wasn't an issue. Let us know how you get on :) xx
