Tension & Head Pressure

I am 16 months into my Viral Encephalitis journey, which I acquired through a mosquito bite and the West Nile Virus. I came within an inch of losing my life when this started, but have fought my way through. At this point, my life is somewhat back to normal, but I have issues everyday that make my life difficult. I have this intense head pressure & tension, which in many cases turns to burning pain. I also get it on my shoulders and back. The doctors have released me from care and tell me that I have fully recovered, which does not make sense to me.

My sleeping disorder is also a bit better, as I have more consistency in my sleep. However, as mentioned, my head sometimes feels like its blown up and its going to explode. The things that seem to help are good sleep, heavy cardio exercise, and burping (belching). Yes, this helps, as I feel my head and nerves more at ease when I burp. Of course, the feeling only lasts a few minutes then i'm back to head pressure again.

Just wondering if anyone has encountered similar symptoms.

Good luck to all.

Cesar

Hey there. I'm sorry you have doctors "tell[ing] [you] that [you] have fully recovered" when it is obvious you have not. The same thing happened for me. Nearly 4.5 years later, it's obvious I will never fully recover. But that doesn't mean I am not still improving, and I might be able to build a new kind of life. Same goes for you! It sounds like you're improving. Let your pacing be in terms of months and years, not days or weeks.

I had viral E October 2020 and back to work and normal life now however for first 2 years had to sleep whenever I had a headache, had lots of headaches and visual issues e.g.if bright lights.Still headache if tense at all and strobing light still impacts. Exactly the same as you re burping too.I was put on 50mg of Amitripolene which helped with headaches and nerve pain into neck and shoulders. What you are experiencing is normal and most people say first 2 years the worst. You learn to manage symptoms.I was given a 1 in 3 chance of survival so it makes you live your life.Good luck and take care.x
