I have just passed 1 year in recovery from Viral Encephalitis. I still take medication (anti-depressants & sleeping aids). I still have symptoms (headache, memory loss), but i'm much better than the beginning.
However, I was just wondering if its ok to have an occasional glass of wine or 1 beer.
Regards,
Cesar

Ask your neurologist and the ones prescribing your medications. Read about interaction effects with the meds. I can’t drink at all because I have to take benzodiazepines. I wouldn’t want to, anyway, but that’s just me.
I agree with kitnkaboodle. Drinking alcohol depends on the meds you take. I was advised not to drink alcohol when taking my epilepsy medication, as in my case , alcohol can lead to a seizure. A pharmacist could tell you which of your meds cannot be combined with alcohol.
I agree. I was off any meds after a year (I know I was lucky but also my neurologist was keen for me not to take meds unless I really needed them). I didn’t drink anything for over a year. I had a drink the Christmas 16 months later in great fear. Just a very small glass of red wine. Over 6 years on I still have a small glass of red wine as anything more than that can give me a headache and it isn’t worth it. Definitely definitely check you’re ok to drink with your medication first though.
I wouldn't say yes. Most times I take alcohol I suffer from some UTI infection and sepsis. Maybe there is no connection but I prefer to remember the good times rather than try to repeat them. Find another mood changer, Scrabble works for us or a walk.
