Recently... last couple of months, I have noticed that my husband has started talking to himself. It not a complete conversation. It's like he is giving himself affirmations or telling himself that was not correct outlaid. I asked him if was aware of himself doing this and he said no. I was wondering has anyone else experienced this?

Thank you,

Nebraska Texas

My mother did not have encephalitis (as far as we know…), but she did the same thing for a good 30 years before she died. We’d tell her she was doing it and she had no idea. It was unnerving. She did it most when she was stressed and preoccupied (so for her, most of her adult life).

Thank you Harper, Fortunately he does have an MRI this week. I will mention it to his neurologist in a couple of weeks.

I catch myself talking to myself when I’m by myself or walking my dog . I do daft things, like swearing out loud with frustration . I wouldn’t worry too much , The fact your husband is able to assess his actions as correct / incorrect is a real intellectual achievement.
