Well i haven't claimed for myself personally as of yet as I very much doubt I would get it. I'm very borderline on the requirements. That said I have had experience with it claiming for my 21 year old son who has autism and epilepsy. I tried to apply on my own the first time and it was a nightmare got turned down straight away. I'm now getting support via social care who helpt me complete the application form as they know the right words to say and we are due to go for his interview soon. Social care said they believe it will go through but if not to let them know and they will help me appeal. Apparently citizen advice do this also if social care isn't for you. We only went with them as he will need support for independent living one day. Also there are charities in your local area that offer services to help with completing the form so look out for them.

I'm an intelligent person and thought I'd filled in the form well and clearly hadn't they know what they are looking for. So my advice is get help filling it in if you are going to do it. Do the self assessment test online, which I score low on dispite being in pain and a wobbly mess. 🤣

Good luck if you decide to do it and keep us posted. I'm on sick at the moment then I may have to consider employment support allowance. I'm a newby to all this millarky so feeling my way around the mind field of diagnosis and support. All the best to you.

If your caring for your mum. Then social care is the place to go as you will be classed as her carer. They are very good and will do all they can to help you. Keep me posted n let me know how you get on.

There are some very good guides from Benefits and Work that take you through it step by step. I have used them for years now and it is worth joining up every time you need to apply. There are also some organisations that are professional members where they can distribute the guides for free.
