Anyone also seen in daily mail today about a new drug that has got the go ahead in England called Finerenone supposed to reduce risk of heart attacks in people with type 2 diabetes and CKD. But says it will be the standard treatment for people with Stage 3 and 4 kidney disease . Which is strange as our doctors do not seem to worry about stage 3 . .

New drug
This is one of the new drugs out there to combat Heart, Diabetes and CKD. It is just coming out and so many doctors do not know about it. It sometimes is up to a patient to teach their doctors about new drugs they might be interested in. I did that for myself, Ozempic, and my husband on Farxiga.
Are you happy with both those tablets I am still struggling with metformin and have been reading up on all different diabetic tablets but never know which one I should choose and ask for
I personally am not a big fan of metformin. It is not good for the kidneys. But it is cheap and the oldest prescription so most docs start with that. Here in the States, insurance companies dictate that you start on that. BUT.... look into the other newer ones which can be amazing. They often are very expensive but there are patient assistance available. Ozmepic right now is hard to get because people are using it to lose weight. I did not lose wieght on it but I am on an extremely low dose. The Farxiga has worked fantastic for my husband. It keeps his sugar in control and his CKD went from stage 3b to almost stage 2.
