Has anyone here tried CT Renal Angiogram?

One Neph is suggesting I should do it

The other said it's not worth the risk since it won't increase the size of my kidney anymore

Your thoughts?

GFR's 60 btw

When I was diagnosed with ckd, one of my kidneys when ultrasounded was larger than the other. The hospital did an angiogram because they thought I might have an obstruction. The test showed I did not have one. I don't know what the feeling is now about doing the test or not doing it. I was diagnosed in 1992, moving on to a transplant in 1999. I would weigh the pros and cons of having it done and seriously looking at all of the risks. Talk to the doctor again and do some research on your own.

Did you experience any remarkable pain a few weeks after the procedure? Did you notice if it affected your GFR significantly and/or negatively?

I hope you're doing well. I wonder what caused for you to have to undergo the transplant. So which one has the issue, the larger one or the other?

What's your condition called?

At the time I had the test done I was in the hospital and was having other tests done too. They were trying to determine what caused my kidney failure. I have FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis) . My kidneys were getting all scarred up and shrinking because of it. All was due to my having strep throat when I was 9 years ago. A couple months after I had nephritis - an inflammation in the kidneys. 30 years later I was in kidney failure. My larger, Drs thought healthier kidney, was biopsied and had the angiogram. Both of my kidneys had the disease. Although it's been many years ago, I don't remember having any lasting effects from that test. I did have some bleeding after my kidney biopsy and had to lay flat for while. I am now 19 years post transplant and doing well. My creatinine continues to be 0.9. I had a deceased donor that was 16 and his kidney was a 4/6 match for the tissue markers.

For me, the angio was to see if there was any blockage to my kidneys. There wasn't, so they proceeded with the kidney biopsy.
