Stones

My gfr is not changing no matter what I do. Extremely strict on diet, dairy free. I was doing low carb, but now following kidney diet. I excuse and have a very healthy lifestyle. Yesterday I had ultrasound and I believe I saw stones. It looked like a circle, shadow, with bright colored flecks. I believe one has moved and is uncomfortable...twinges, feel like I have to pee. Until I did some reading wasn’t sure what it was. I want all kidney stones gone..if that is what I saw and feel. Thoughts? I think the only next thing to help is masking tape. :( I am doing all that I know to do.

He Sally, if it isn't dropping and changing for the worse and is stable, isn't that good? Some people are able to get there GFR to go up a bit, but it probably depends upon the type of CKD you have and the cause of it. There are people on here who have remained stable for many many years without going up or down. As long as we can keep those kidneys going, that's the main goal.

As for the circle, could be a cyst or stone. I have a non cancerous cyst on my kidney that looks like what you are describing. I'm guessing you have an appt with your doctor soon to discuss?

Keep us posted:)

Thank you, when I looked up what I sawi it was decribed as a shadow with stones and I have friends that described it as stones. My doc is wanting to know as well, because Ihave been so strict, honestly eating is not enjoyable.

He is very proactive. I did read stones can affect your gfr and creatinine level and also if a stone has traveled. The one that has traveled causes twinges, sometimes discomfort in the female area. I had no idea.

I'm sorry you have stones. I think I misunderstood. You were saying you were eating a diet to avoid stones not CKD. That makes sense now as I've heard lots of dairy can cause them so I see why you are avoiding it.

I hear they can be quite painful. My husband passed one and it wasn't pleasant. I thought there was some kind of medication or procedure that could be done to minimize them if you have multiple ones repeatedly. I hope you find your answers soon!

Take care. Sending you healing thoughts!
