Understanding Cret scores

Hi - first time here, so hello everyone! I was diagnosed with igan about eight years ago and my Cret score has been increasing slowly ever since, but a cocktail of drugs have slowed it down.

Bit scared as my latest appointment has been bought forward 7 weeks as my Cret score has jumped from around 275 up to 384. I know this is a jump, but I'm struggling to find online any kind of scale indicating what 384 means, does this mean I'm heading into Stage 4?

Any advice welcome - and thank the lord for google and it uncovering this site!

i am not surprised your appointment has been bought forward i'm afraid unless it drops again this is at the level where you talk about your dialysis options! you get plenty of help & advice from your own homecare nurse (in the uk any way)

Hi

It's so easy to worry when you find your results indicate your health has taken a downward turn. I recently had an appointment brought forward because of my results and it does make your heart skip a beat.

The NHS are great though.

I'm egfr 15 at present, stage 4 heading head first into stage 5 and have been alocated a nursing sister who coordinates everything regarding my treatment and keeps in touch with me by phone and email. It's great for those moments when you have a question that worries you and you know the answer is only a phone call or email away.

Do keep in touch with others on here. It's always good to know that there are others out there who know how you feel and are living with the same ailments.

Good luck with your appointments.

Thank you so much for all your replies and thoughts - it's great to find somewhere to speak honestly about things, I'm trying to worry my family too much!

The NHS is fantastic, when I was first diagnosed my kidneys were given 18months - nearly 8 years later they're just about holding on. I put those years down to the care the NHS has given me - and the fact that those years meant I could have my second son, will never be forgotten.

Looks like a new chapter is about to start - but good to know there's a community here that are going through the same thing.

Hope you're all well!

Richard

You are so right, the NHS are great. when I was first diagnosed I was imminent dialysis or transplant, but near on 20 years later I am at a steady stage 4 (23 egfr), but feel great and have had wonderful care. I know exactly what I am going to do if or when I start dialysis and I have told them already :D

Good luck and keep in touch on here. Plenty of people to help you out and point you in the right direction x
