I have been referred to a Dr Saturno at Victoria Hospital,Kirkcaldy,Fife. Has any one seen him/her? It is the Botox Clinic and this will be my first visit.

I'm not familiar with this doctor, but I think most initial visits to a botox clinic are probably similar (I've got cervical dystonia) The doctor will have your referral letter, and will discuss and confirm your symptoms. He'/she will observe your movements, possibly feeling the affected are to see which muscles are involved. I think some clinics have an EMG machine which helps to assess the elecric activity in the muscles affected. (None of the neurologists I've seen have used one, however) I believe it is normal to give a low dose (by injection) to start with, to minimise any adverse reaction or side-effects. You will then return to the clinic about 2 or 3 months later. The neurologist will then re-assess your condition and your response to the injections and will decide whether the treatment needs adjusting before administering the second dose. This cycle then repeats. This is my experience, and from what I have read over the years it is fairly typical. Good luck with the treatment!

thanks for your reply. I am hoping this appt will be to discuss the possible treatment. I already have botox for my facial dystonia and as I am terrified of needles have to get numbing gel before any injections.. I hope they also can do this.
