Fit to Fly Certificate?

Do I/we/fellow dystonia people need a certificate to fly?

I have travelled quite a lot to a variety of countries and have never needed one. The most that's ever been said to me is 'Are you ok, do you need assistance?'

I usually travel with others, so am not on my own. (Should probably add i have Generalised Dystonia and laryngeal dystonia).

I pretty independent, mainly just need someone if a lot of explaining is involved.

It's quite expensive £20-50 to get one and you apparently need a new one every time you travel!

What's your experiences?

Hi....never ever needed one......can’t think why you would? Not a risk to any one and covered by travel insurance...

Have never had to have a certificate to travel. Why would you? Dystonia is not a life threatening condition. I also have Generalised Dystonia.

Hi

Thanks for replies. I didn't think you would need one until I read an airlines website and travel insurance advice.

Just wondered if people found it better to have one in case the airline kicked up a fuss. But won't bother if nobody had any problems.

Thanks

I like to as a rule of thumb..give people a heads up of all my med conditions.. especially my Dystonia. A lot of times.. especially after a surgery..Ive found myself being evaluated for a stroke and all the protecals. I personally think its a good idea... so people are aware and know how to help if needed, and u r not put through unwanted or needed medical tests IF something happens!!
