Hi, I am Sue mother of 8 ranging 29yrs down to 6yrs and have been married to Ian for 30.5 yrs now. Our son who will be 26 next month has severe dyslexia and I faught and won a SENDIST for a special dyslexic school in Lichfield 14 yrs ago. Our 13yr old son is home educated due to me seeing the same thing happening again and did not want to fight the system anymore. I also home educate our almost 7yr old who appears to be gifted and talented but that's another story.
I have over a few years helped other families going through tribunal. Our 13yr old has finally got a diagnosis of dyslexia along with global learning difficulties and Autistic traits. They say not enough of the triad of impairments to make full ASD diagnosis but blame this on home ed A cop out if you ask me.
Anyway that's me, nice to meet you all

Hi, nice to hear your story and I hope you are getting on ok with the home educating! We are at the stage with our 10 year old of deciding whether we fight the system or carry on with home ed (our some much prefers being at home). It feels so unfair that our clever child has to struggle so hard in school it makes him ill! Anyway it's lovely to hear other people's perspecitives as it makes me feel more sane.....
I refused to fight again after doing it for my now 26yr old. I doubt my son will go back into the system of school. I have however requested funding for an online school as he has a statement of special needs which I got once home edding. However it was July that we had the annual review and up to now have not had the ammended statement or a decision for funding from the legal team
