Hello everyone.

First of all I would like to say thank you to everybody who shared the story in this community website,

For the last 3 years I have been back and forth trying to get my child tested!!

It’s been hard And frustrated, the only way that kept me going is when I read everybody’s stories and not feel alone, it gave me strength and courage to fight for my Child.

Know I have One piece of paper does say she has dyslexia. we have the diagnosed but I’m still Confused?

Can Somebody give me some advice please!!

Do I Need to get a statement so she can get help in the future or is it not necessary?? And how do I go on by getting a statement?

Kind regards to all

Kim

Hi

You have to go to the school SEND coordinator and ask for advice there. It is their duty to help you to sort out the support that you need. You need something called an EHC plan. Here's a link that describes what it is. contact.org.uk/advice-and-s... Push the school into action. See the head if the SENDCo isn't helpful. Go with a witness and write down what happens in each meeting. Also, contact IPSEA here's a link to their site. They are brilliant. ipsea.org.uk/

Hope that helps.
