how can a dyslexic practice car theory test
practice,practice, practice.
OH! and in my case, dont go for the books as they are dreadful, go for the official dvd/cd option.
It also may help having a fully licence driver as a passenger whilst you do a bit of driving and put you through some practical questions as this may help remember answers
Thank you for replying to my query. Can you tell me what the dvd/cd is called where I get the it from
I had a cd-rom that read the questions out loud I found this really helpful as I could see and hear the questions so it was more likely to stick in my mind. It is down to finding the best method of learning that's right for you abs getting as much practice as you can
Thank you for replying to my enquiry
Where do I get the cd-rom from?
amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/184326... this is the updated version of the one I used 7 years ago
The dvd is good. What worked for me was asking someone to help me really understand the reason behind each each point - everything becomes more memorable if you really understand it and visualize it. If you can explain it to someone you're more likely to remember it. At the time of booking your test go to the disability section where you will find Dyslexia. You will get extra time in both your theory and driving test. They will make accommodations e.g keep instructions short, use diagrams etc. Just tell them what you need and they'll make sure you get it. Make sure the examiner knows you're dyslexic too. Keep at it and good luck.
Hi Stolie, how are you? I have done the theory test; I phone the DVLA and explaind to them that I have dyslexia and the put on my paperwork and send it to the centre. On the day of the examined I was given someone to sit in and read the question and I put the answer. The next thing you can asked for is a colour screen to help. Please get the theory and hazard perception DVD that will help. I don't know if this is any use to you but good luck xxx
