For those who are type 1, i'd just like to know how many units of insulin do you take every day?

Hi nyonyo

I use about 13 units basal a day with a total of between 20 to 25 units for meals and snacks each day. But, it shouldn't really matter how much you take as long as your glucose is well controlled. Everyone is slightly different, requiring different amounts at different times of the day. In effect it is even possible that different people may require different amounts for the same meal.

Do you mean 20-25 units for total daily dose, or 20-25 of prandial/bolus insulin?

Hi

I mean 20 to 25 units total daily dose (breakfast 4 units; lunch 8 units; dinner 4 to 8 units; snacks and corrective doses 1 to 2 units).

Hm...do all type 1 use more bolus than basal? I'm type 2, i use 18 basal at 9 pm and 4 bolus before dinner, my HbA1c is 6%

Each type 1 is different. Same food can effect different people in different ways. Rice, for example can raise the blood sugar really fast in some, but be okay in others. This is also with doses/amount of insulin. Carb. counting helps with doses for the meals.😀👍
