What's diabetis? I have heard of diabetes but not diabetis. Infact another word battered around is diabeasties ( cos it is a beast! of a disease ) I have had types 1 Diabetes for 19 years. and am on a pump.

Do you use the DEXCOM system? They're working on getting the 5th gen. approved with the FDA. The Gen. 4 is what I use and it's doing great. Check out my postings about it when you get the chance.

If you have type 2 diabetes, daily exercise, healthy minimal carb diet is beneficial. Also apple cider vinegar, cactus, okra, cinnamon, cabbage help with lowering blood glucose. I hear companies are racing to produce bloodless glucometer that uses laser detection instead of having to poke your finger for blood--which is great news for those who don't like poking themselves.

Look on the diabetes.org.uk website for lots of help and information and speak to your diabetic team. Watch your carbs, but you don't need to reduce them drastically, get some exercise, lose some weight if you need to. Ignore the "of which sugars" bit on food labelling just take the total carb content.

Also, take no notice of "adverts" and posts that recommend certain foods that "cure" diabetes! They don't and most of them come from very dubious sources and even if they did help you would need to have very large amounts to do anything at all!

Make sure you speak to your GP and get in touch with Diabetes UK and you will have all the help you need. Ask to go on the Xperthealth.org.uk training course, its very enlightening.

It all depends on the Type as people have mentioned. Also depends on medication you been giving. If you're on insulin then officially there's no food restrictions but common-sense will tell you that sugar based food aren't any good for anyone, diabetes or not.

They do, although they are now also championing the LCHF diet, but for me that doesn't work. My GP has advised me against high fat due to gastric problems so I go lower carb/low-med fat.
