I've been on the vape on and off for a year now I have had the odd cigarette hear and there but I want to quit I plan to quit Sunday night. As for drinking I've had 3 day off this week. Me and the wife sat down and she said I have to calm down as I drink everyday, I did plan to have 2 days off then have a few drinks this Wkend, But drinking will only put me back a few days so I don't know what's best to do. Any advice would be great fully received. Ps I drink beer about 6-8 a day.

Welcome to the forum. Giving up vaping and alcohol at the same time is hard. Ditch the fags.If you drink less you will probably vape less as they go together like a horse and carriage.

Maybe focus on alcohol first then vaping later...up to you.

Education is everything. The more sobriety books you read, podcasts you listen the more you learn and your brain starts to rewire. Your addiction is a voice jn your head you need to recognise and know how to cope with. Try Alan Carrs quit literature.

Moderation is extremely tricky as you can easily slide into old habits. However you are drinking too much so moderating with a view to quitting could be a good start.

I have downloaded the ' Try Dry' app. It is really useful for monitoring your drinking. They are also starting Sober Spring about now. Sign up for free encouraging emails and tips. Fill in the drinks quiz honestly to check whether you need a medical detox. There is also SMART recovery and AA for support if needed.

Go for it. People don't regret being Sober, they do regret drinking.

Try controlled drinking for few weeks. But you got to honest. If you think you can do 2 beers each sitting each day for a consistent amout of time probably you dont have an issue. If not, you probably have to try staying stopped for an extended period of time. Not just 1 month like dry Oct or dry Jan. If you can stay sober for over a year and dont have emotional issues then you can say you dont have an issue with alcohol. If you have issues with both these tests, you probably will be greatly helped by AA. You dont have to step into an AA room, you can read the book Alcoholics Anonymous on-line and see if you can relate with the disease concepts presented in the book.

Hi,how did it go over the weekend? I think that you are very brave to try to give up two addictions at once. I would have failed miserably if I had given up alcohol when I stopped smoking. But with hindsight I probably should have given up the booze first because in the long term I think that alcohol has given me far more problems than smoking and giving up smoking might have been easier without the hangovers and depression caused by drinking.

We are all different, you have just got to decide which is best for you.

I wish you every success, whichever you decide to do.
