Just returned from a one week holiday in Egypt, had a lovely time in an all inclusive establishment.
The booze devil attempted to derail my alcohol free experiment…on day five I thought I would enjoy one glass of wine with my hubby which turned into two at which point I started to feel the old unpleasant ways beginning to emerge, being belligerent, sarcastic, sensitive and argumentative..
The BZ then tried to persuade me to have another glass of the lovely wine💀at which point I called it a day and retired to bed before history repeated itself. Stuck to coke for the rest of the stay, sooo glad I did as the holiday could have ended very differently.
Remember to stuck to your guns and keep up the willpower.

The book AA calls it the peculiar mental twist. Right at the point of contemplating whether one should drink or not, the mind makes a convincing arguement why you need it and deserve it! Thats total powerlessness. You are lucky that the craving didnt set in. But be watchful, your mind may convince in a few days, that you were able to stop with just 2, you can do it again. It gives you a false encouragement and may even convince you should be able to handle drinks safely like last time. Next time may not be the same.
That’s great. Holidays are my bugaboo. All inclusive, even worse. I find the craving forces you to take that first drink then after that it’s just a blur. We always enjoy and savour that first beverage and then the magic is gone!
