Welcome to the group. Unfortunately I can’t offer any experience with drinking in moderation. I totally failed at that. But you’ll find some people on here who will support your efforts. Including me. I hope you’ll be able to achieve your goal. Good luck.
hi ive cut down by drinking not so nice stuff i struggle to keep lid on bottle wine what are you drinking, it helped me stop totally for 3 months by drinking none alcohol beer wine or go for weaker strength add water, theres a nhs app on here that may help and read some other posts,so your having 3 nights drinking 12 pints of beer 24 units over 3 nights 4 pints a night,is this in pub or house, you could have a none alcohol lager in between 🤔 best of luck 🤗
Hi Twinkly , thanks for your reply . I don't enjoy drinking at home but I do occasionally get a four pack and watch my favourite football team . I go out approx three times a week . last night i did have one glass of wine with my meal but when i wanted another i had a splitzer (little wine with soda water) . which i enjoyed . so I'm trying to get down to 8 drinks a week.Hope you can help x
hi Richard the liver can cope with 5 units ive read in one night over a few hours and so the 4 cans of lager is slightly over the gov guidelines depending on strenth gov change the guidelines from time to time and if its not regular i dont think you should be so harsh on yourself unless you have health issues, your doing well and im sure youll reach your goal just pull the 4th can off the pack and put it out of reach 😊
Hi Richard. Just an idea…Replace going to somewhere one day a week that serves alcohol with a social atmosphere that doesn’t serve alcohol. If you have friends from the pubs you frequent, ask them to join you. I don’t know what you like to do or what your area offers, but it might be worth thinking about. 🍀
Thanks for your advice . It’s a thought that . Going ten pin bowling next week but they do serve booze there . Going to try and drink moderately and still enjoy life . Aiming for eight drinks this week though x
